Sunday 23rd May 2021.
Last game of the season. Home to Spurs.
Just won FA Cup.
Needed a win to finish 4th and clinch a well deserved place in the Champions League.
15 minutes to go - Winning 2-1 courtesy of 2 pens from Albert Steptoe.
On comes Gareth Bale and we lose 2-4.
Total capitulation. 15 minutes of utter chaos. Bedlam.
Rodgers unable to do anything about it.
We were never the same after that.
Hello Championship! Its us again.

I remember being utterly devastated after that game. It felt like a pivotal moment at the time and so it proved to be, although it took a couple of seasons for the full consequences to unravel. It would have been best for everyone if Rodgers had left that summer - we might still be in the PL and we'd still remember him primarily for an FA Cup win rather than a relegation.

That game in the cup was when we saw his true colours and I totally agree he should have gone then.
He had no idea how much it meant to the fans and for that reason alone he should have been sacked.

The game before, specifically the last 5 mins of the game before, is arguably just as pivotal. If Perez had hit the target from roughly the penalty spot then it would have made the spuds result irrelevant.

you could forgive him maybe for bottling a CL place once, but not twice in two seasons.

Don't forget the Villa semi final when he went 5 at the back against no striker Aston Villa in the 1st leg.
Fraud.
English game has finally woken up to what he is.
