Ticket checks for away games

It appears that a certain lucky few will have to report to a ticket office in Southampton with photo ID in order to attend the game.
What a ball ache.
What's next? Breathalyser? Only go on designated window licking coaches?

And if the those few are really unlucky the club will even have not forgotten to have taken the tickets with them & they'll still be able to get in!

But, yeah, they are trialling it next month (so presumably also for Brentford or potential FA Cup tie if we win tomorrow & are drawn away in the next round) and expect it will be here to stay. I guess the noise around abuse of priority points made it almost inevitable at some point but I always get ticked off when I see "safety" invoked as a reason for such things. Just a way of shutting down debate.

As for the other stuff, don't give 'em any ideas!!!

This is probably at the bequest of the PL. They’ve a big problem apparently with touts but that’s not a problem we have. Hopefully this will all die down soon and we can get on with supporting our club. It does seem they’re getting a bit arsey in general though. Had my bottle of water taken off me going in on Saturday. First time ever at the KP. Apparently not allowed. They didn’t check my bag though which I pointed out to them. I also mentioned how all the oldies are allowed to take flasks of tea in which one of my friends does. They said they weren’t allowed. Ummm. Well my 82 year old female friend was happily supping hers at HT.
They mentioned that my bottle could be used as a missile! You mean like those missiles they pump into the crowd at HT full of T-shirts. I truly give in.

I fear that the “bombardments” of T-shirt missiles will soon reach even greater proportions. Akin to the epic ‘Rorkes Drift’ tactic of “second rank load, first rank fire”. Already there are reports this morning that 3 City fans are being treated for “shell shock” at the LR1. It will only get worse!

My mates and I always take a flask of ‘tea’ with us when we go to watch Test matches. It’s not necessary at Lords where they are civilised enough to allow a bottle of wine per person to be taken in. It’s a cunning ruse that’s never failed at all the other Test venues over decades of watching.

“Nothing like a good glass of Château de Chasslier wine 🍷, ay Gessiah”

I had a run in with stewards on first game of this season when they gave us free water outside the ground but then wouldn't let my 9yr old take it in.

I contacted the club afterwards for clarification and was told that you were allowed to take in water (but not soft drinks) provided it was unopened and less than 500ml. So no missile concerns there.

Separately I was told by a steward outside the ground that you could take in an opened bottle but it would need to be empty (!) and then you can ask at the kiosk to refill it. Again, no missile concerns.

It's all nonsense. As buz said on a different thread they use the catch all of "on safety grounds" when we all know it's just a scam to extract your cash.

Thought the checking was also to do with anti-social behaviour i.e. those who are hurling beer around in the concourse at away games. I have wondered how so many younger fans have enough points to get to so many games.

The human t shirt missile launchers at the KP are very disappointing. Many have no idea how to throw properly and can barely clear the first 5 rows of seats.
Are they all "trained" at Seagrave too?
I'm still waiting to catch a Ltd Edition "Rogers Out" in XL

But you can buy a bottle inside?

If you’re prepared to wait in a 20 min queue. But it’s about safety.
As said it’s rubbish. Same as when so many companies/people/organisations hid behind the safety scenario when dealing with the pandemic. I had a problem when they wouldn’t deliver a note to a friend in a hotel room as the paper they’d write it on might give them covid. FFS. How did we win 2 WW’s

I was virtually strip searched at the Copenhagen home game in 2016 and their section exploded with flares!
It's all getting pretty stupid isn't it?
