As far as adaptation goes I hope that some of the hospitality and catering services currently provided at volume in city centres will be re-provided (at smaller scale obviously) in more dispersed neighbourhoods (I declare a personal interest as it would suit me very well). Ideally as independent or small local chains rather than the big chains.City centres will need to change. More leisure and residential schemes are the future. Along with reductions in rental rates (to boost independent retail) and repurposing large shop units.
Basically providing all the things, that online cannot accommodate.
The big threat to city centre, is the high possibility of office space no longer being required as people work remotely.
