When I was younger it was just soul, funk and reggae for me, but kind of secretly there were songs by CCR, The Stones and a few others that I really liked.
It was only when I was in my thirties and also got into Blues that I worked it out that those tunes I liked were the 1st rock stage of blues, rather than the soul/funk pathway from the blues.
