Blowing the greatest opportunity the club will ever have

Sorry, I like the Fosseway (some of the time) but this bloke only writes well about Rugby (whatever that is). The article is basically a rant about cash and underperforming players, with nowt of interest about TCR or how he was allowed to get away with it. Back before Christmas, this same bloke was writing without irony ‘I can only doff my cap to him for how the team have turned itself around in the last 6 weeks. The results and performances in that time are both supremely impressive. Rodgers, the coaching staff and the players deserve credit for the upturn in form. It has surprised many of us, and they deserve the plaudits coming their way’. Yeah, right.

I'd not heard of him before and now realise he's one of those odd breeds with season tickets at both the Tigers and LCFC. But I think the Fosse Way article largely covers where I am with the club I've followed for 60 years

Relegation was deserved because we were poor in too many games but it's the lack of awareness and action to correct it, and the throwing away of the greatest opportunity we've every had to really become a team that consistently messed with the top six, that gets me.

Taylor threw away the O'Neill legacy, but a combination of what TCR did, Rudkin's incompetence and Top letting it happen is much worse.

My view of Rodgers changed in early 2022. That loss to Forest in the cup (watching our lackadaisical warm up before that game compared to their rigourous drills is still fixed in my mind - I knew a defeat was coming) and then his words afterwards about a 'total refresh', and then his comments in the following weeks, did it for me.

To be fair to Butlin he did flag up concerns about TCR around the same time - https://backpagefootball.com/brendan-rodgers-and-the-leicester-city-expectation-problem/130490/

The fall from grace has been so dramatic that I still say its either rigged or at a level of incompetence so bad that legal proceedings need to be issued for compensation from those responsible.
There was just so many individual issues such as Rodgers players on too much money players out of contract-all of which just boiled and killed off momentum and caused problems. Hence we are relegated.
