Come on Tigers

What a fantastic battle this afternoon at Saracens. Blood, three sin bins, after ball scraps, top class skills.
Ferocious. And I only saw half of it.
Another likely battle at 4.30 to hopefully see Tigers in a play off final..
Treat yourself...

You are on the wrong board , no egg chaser fans on here please
Right behind Saracens next week if needed šŸ˜

Im ac/dc and have season ticket for both city and tigers.
they are having a great season and could turn sarris over today.
COME ON TIGERS!

on the way home today from LRI walked up the side of crumbie stand , its called aylestone walk , i never knew that, never been in the ground for a first class match, been past it literally 1000's times - anyway certain parts of the facing brickwork looked just like filbo kop. Obviously not as big or imposing , but what came first us or them and was it the same builders ? just interested.

Leitch designed the Kop. Don't know who designed the Crumbie stand.

You've got me curious now Micky, ive been looking for WJ Cearns and all l can really find. at the moment is that he was a builder who build grounds. This article includes Leicester. Could it be that he built it and Leitch designed ? I hate stuff like this because it drives me mad until l know, l had a life long believe it was Leitch, but l don't know why l thought that, just accepted it l guess.

Just found this which indicates neither did !

Buy the Simon Inglis book 'Engineering Archie', if you can find one. Brilliant book lists all of his football stadiums. The club LCFC gave me some copies of the Double Decker plans when I made the model
.

I thought Leitch always put his signature triangular feature on the roof line of the stands he designed? Iā€™ve never delved that deeply into it before to know if there were any without this feature.

Pratt Truss Girders were commonplace in the 30s, They were mainly used by LMS railway. Leitch used Pratt Girders and so did Cearns. This is a Pratt Truss Girder on a signal gantry and also the Double Decker

the memories from a kid that spring to mind from this photo !

First time l was ever on the telly, the Leicester got a consolation goal against Everton in the cup in '68 l ran on the pitch. I can remember hoping me mam didn't see me incase she wouldn't let me go again, she didn't ! That same game there's a photo of me after being knocked off the top front wall on the front of the book, Got, Not Got or the other one in a shitty brown anorak. The same shitty anorak that l had to put on inside out in the middle of Nottingham at my first away game because it had Leicester transfers stuck all over it.

Never realized how deep some people can go, seriously impressed gentlemen. And to get your hands on the drawings another level....
So what came first the ball or the egg?

Filbert St opened the year before Welford Rd. 1891 and 1892, I believe
its in one of them articles that Tigers out bid us for Welford Road !

Does any one remember Tigers old club house on Aylestone Road that had carved into the headstone "Leicester Football Club" ?

It was on Massive Hoarding on the old Members Stand on Aylestone Road, Black sign with white letters. You want to ask Greg Chapman about that

What was the name of that pub directly opposite the Crumbly Stand on the corner of Hazel Street? I can only remember ever going in there once before a home game against Notts County. Building is still there converted into grotty looking flats!
