Covid enquiry

What's is the point in all of this apart from schoolchildren name calling each other.
The have been few enquiries where something good has come out of it,
Lessons are never ever learnt .. it's just an expensive blame game... big payday time for lawyers Lords and ladies

You’d hope there would be some accountability for the decisions that were made & the subsequent corruption.

This is no “lessons will be learnt” exercise.

It was a crisis situation, everything had to be done quickly and was unprecedented, hindsight is a wonderful thing. We must learn from this not try to score political points

Disagree.

Totally accept that initially there would've been a 'rabbit in the headlights' moment. However, already we've seen certain decisions were made (e.g. 'Eat Out To Help Out') without key people being involved. Those part of the enquiry (including Johnson) are already applying revisionism & fake contrition to the whole thing - bullshit, negligence & arrogance in abundance.

And for the govt to see it as a money-making exercise for themselves or their friends (e.g. huge PPE contracts in being handed out to those in "VIP lanes" that had never manufactured a single piece of PPE in their lives - in what other procurement situation in any of our businesses & sectors we all work in, would you get that?), is inexcusable.

It's got nothing to do with political points & everything to do with uncovering the level of incompetence & corruption involved.

You forget that this was unprecedented event we should have remembered the great flu of the 20s but we didn't... I apportion no blame they were in panic whatever you political affiliation this exercise is blame, so you cannot account what anyone else would have done

You're absolutely right in that it was pretty much unprecedented - some of their initial decision-making could in theory, be forgivable.

But the inquiry has already shown up what little regard they had for certain quarters of society & professions, followed-up by the wanton corruption that followed.

And you're right - you can't account for what anyone else would've done. One would hope anyone else would not have been so crass, incompetent & self-serving, & shown more empathy, been more considered in their decision-making & generally selfless.

Apathy & "they tried their best" aren't options here.

Crisis situation my arse.
It was a load of old bollocks, total overkill to generate debt and profit for the establishment.
Don’t scratch the surface, do a bit of critical thinking.
Us plebs told to stay indoors don’t mix’s with friends and family, leaving the old to die alone while they partied. If it was so much of a crisis situation surely those that were in the know wouldn’t be partying and knocking the backs out of each other ffs.
Clearly the met officers at the gates of Downing Street knew what was going on yet that same police department were happy to issue fines to us plebs that happen to meet in a fucking park.
Anyone remember the videos coming out of China before it hit the UK of folk dropping dead in the streets setting off the panic.
Anyone work through the so called pandemic? How many of your fellow workers caught covid? You would think every fucker would have been on deaths door as we all mixed with each other in the workplace. That didn’t happen.
They had your pants down but keep looking the other way if it makes you feel better.

It pissed me off when they decided to categorise different areas with different levels as to how much freedom you had.
As a resident of Leicestershire I was forced into a full lockdown on the back of what happened in the City of Leicester.
None of it made any sense.
In the begining when the very first cases were reported it became countrywide within days.
So why later did they open some doors and close others knowing by what happened in the very beginning they would be taking a backward step.

Boris turning up for the inquiry early morning while it’s still dark wearing silly looking bobble hats says a lot about him really.

It's all part of the act. Hearing some of the evidence today shows how much contempt him and his chums have for us. But, good old Boris, he's a bit of a character.

I assumed he went in early and then hid in a fridge so he didn't have to face questions/accusations from families of the dead.

How many stories are there of doctors and nurses who actually dealt with the victims of covid 'partying and knocking the backs out of each other'?
Did the NHS receive the number of fines that No.10 did?

They were too busy learning new dance routines to get pissed and fuck each other.

They managed to organise the VIP lanes.
The referallal schemes. Advice on how to draft the contracts. How to avoid competition. Who to speak to and what to procure. The price to pay and the price to sell.

To suggest they were flapping about like headless chickens does them a huge disservice. They were highly effective and very organised. Just not at doing the things that should have been.

Certain families now have wealth that will last for generations, from the public purse.

If you are PM and in the Cabinet, it is your duty to act correctly in a crisis.
Shouldn't need hindsight.
Should have the best foresight...

The COVID Enquiry is working very well indeed, exactly as intended.

All this bluster about the government and their response, the masks, the lockdowns and the isolation are simply distractions. Designed to cover up the BIG lie.

The COVID pandemic was not and is not real. It is the weaponisation of the normal cycle of ‘winter respiratory illness’, or as we used to call it the flu.
Driven by relentless 24hour propaganda from the authorities and a total feeding frenzy from the broadcast media almost every body fell for it.

Some though did not, which required the continuous vilification of anyone not ‘on narrative’ to maintain the lie. Very effective it was to, hence a significant portion of the population still believe and line up for their shots.

Tell that to the poor fuckers that suffered some with their lives
This inquiry is pointless pointing blame
There hopefully will be someone somewhere who will inwardly digest the ramifications of what happened and make sure we are geared up to the next one.
That all you can ask for forwarded is to be forearmed

I've said this before and it still applies - i don't know a single person who's even been hospitalised with Covid.

Surely you realize that people die every year from some kind of respiratory infection, the numbers are quite high, 25,000-30,000 in a normal year, 50,000+ in a bad year.
It is called flu season and takes mostly the elderly and infirm, though younger people get it too.
Rebranding it as COVID-19 scared the shit out of many people, which is as intended.
