Davie Gibson

What a wonderful player he was and deserved to win far more caps than he did, although Scotland had some great players back then.
One of the first players I saw that made me fall in love with “ the beautiful game “.

Endearing memory of Gibbo scoring a goal outa nuffink 6th round at Norwich I was behind the goal

Think they used it for a Hamlet advert, but my memories not wot it was

My Dad’s favourite player. I was lucky enough to see him play too.

Great player, the KDB of his day, he even got a mention by David Frost on TWTWTW when it was prime time TV on a Saturday night.
Also a good postman around Whetstone.

I was told that during the Manderic era, he gave his Scotland shirt to the club to display it, some dumbo stuck it to a piece of hardboard with evo stick. Hutch had to take it to some specialist to repair the damage.

Signed from Hibernian and only just finished his National Service. The last conscripted soldiers left the service in 1963.

A favourite was Gibbo dropping a 30 yard diagonal pass to the wing for Stringy to gallop onto. Pure skill and he cost 25K.
As did Stringy. What a good piece of business by Gillies but I've still not forgiven him RIP for selling Dougan and Banks.

He is one of our all time greats. Very slight in build but a magician on the ball and what they used to call a midfield schemer. Bit like Maddison but much more of a team player. Made us tick in that period 1962-69.
Hardly ever fell over

Hardly ever fell over
Those were the days even when fouled.......get up and get on with the game

Not like today's idiots, someone only has to blow in their earhole and they go down as thought they've been shot fucking cheats and the referees let
them get away with it

That sounds so typical of the club at the time. They couldn’t even be bothered to look after their hardboard.
