First Friendly

Dogshit, just the same no direction tippy tippy guff that Rodgers had us playing...The gulf in class should have been massive today, but to be honest I thought they looked at the same level as us, and that's disappointing. Pre season friendly or not, I wanted to see a different system.

Gerrim gone šŸ˜

Bloody hell give it a chance !!!!
Firstly it's only game no 1 and the result really doesn't matter. The performance is only moderately relevant at this early stage. What is important is plenty of minutes in those legs and a chance for the manager to see some early options with what he has got to work with.
The performance is bound to be a work in progress given the massive changes going on at the club.
Let's face it we don't need to be at Premier League level because we are now a Championship club.
The quality we have lost won't be replicated by the balance of the incoming and outgoing players.
We just need to be amongst the best at this 2nd tier level.
Please, just a bit of perspective gentlemen. We have just started a project of recovery after a dreadful year or so. If anyone is stupid enough to think the bookies are right and we should stroll this division, then give your head a wobble.
The first and most important thing is to stop the decline and then turn our attention to getting back to where we should be.

well, in my opinion, that was an absolute load of shit.

what the fuck was the plan ? pass the ball in triangles with the goalkeeper and every third time lose the ball a put ourselves in trouble. Fuck nose what a half decent team could do to us.

How are we going to score ? surely thats the most important thing in football, Daka and Nacho are gash, full stop. Are we going to use the wings ?

Winks surprised me, he looked good as did KDH, but in general that was fucking rubbish.

The true gulf in class may appear when we play Liverpool and Spurs. At least Daka and Nacho proved to Enzo that we can do without them but we are desperate for an effective striker.

Brauny, I do agree with a lot what you write however a couple of points Iā€™d like to clarify.
> if we want to return to the premiership we have to play at that level even though weā€™re in the Championship.

> In terms of the quality list I can only agree on Maddison the rest are nothing and I think we can cover the loss of him.
Fcuking Tielemans good riddance.

We won the premier league, we have had a ride like know other.... nothing lasts forever, but we did the unthinkable. and I'm fucking moaning about a pre season run out. These summers with no football bend my brain .

Sorry but I don't believe we need to be Premier League quality. The gulf between the two divisions is huge. We only need to be better than what's in it imo. If we get back then we will need more Premier League quality to stay in it.

Regarding the quality, we did have it but the key elements were under motivated because of their contractual positions and abetted by astonishingly poor management and selections.

Just my opinion of course

The manager is still feeling his way around, he going to need time....first competitive match to look at players to see a performance yes it was ragged it was stuttering, but it wasnt bad half a match then change the majority for 45 mins wont give him much of a clue as to players and tactical
Matter it was a run out pure and simple.
FFS dont moan and groan start doing tjat after 10 games in the.league if things are not going right

We are fucked... let's remember the good times. We are not coming back from last seasons fucking disaster. The little midget pressed the ejector seat

In the desperation stakes we are far more in need of a midfielder who can create something for the forwards.
At present we have no one who can play a defensive splitting pass, let alone being able to take another player on.

Enzo has said, and it was quite obvious, that the game was solely about familiarising the players in the way we (they) will play.
After a spirited start, NT were outclassed and the main other aspect was who would form the nucleus of our 'start' eleven.
This was less clear with several positions being chased by similarly able players. Another couple of such outings against rather more sturdy opponents would have been nice but money talks and a long, sapping trip looms.
Overall though a good blend of energy and composure suggesting good progress with developng the new shapes and movement.
And a welcome return of the spirited pressing so basic to a club with our means.

Incidently, the first surprise was our starting keeper. Can't remember his name, but we have,
according to the official site, three others in this position. Ward, Iverson and Smithies.
And we seem to be signing a fourth, from Denmark.
Ward was not involved yesterday and seems destined to leave, and Iverson is not in favour,
else why spend six mill. on a new 'first choice'? Puzzling...
So we are well stocked in this department. As we are at centre back. The youngster looked
energetic at left wing but some more support for JV looked necessary as neither Daka or Ian
did not exactly hammer the door down for a first team place.
