WWII veteran from Preston 105 years old today. Staff Sergeant in the REME 1940-46. North Africa,Sicily and Italy.

Being honoured at the REME Museum at MOD Lyneham today. Now the home base and HQ for the Corps of Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers.
Ernest has received over 4000 birthday cards!

Just finished ‘Brothers in Arms’ by James Holland (read by Al Murray) about the Sherwood Rangers from D Day to VE Day. Very humbling. Wouldn’t be surprised if Ernie didn’t service some of their tanks.
