Cinco de Mayo is second rate, Independence Day is the big one.

Actually, the Mexicans will surprise you with beer - they do some really decent lagers and a nice ale. What they don't seem to do, are desserts or any kind of sweets.

Go to any restaurant, have a brilliant meal and the dessert is always awful and bland, or some European thing they throw out to say they tried. Same with their candy, it's just some bizarre interpretation of an American confection or completely frightening like the ancient... Aztec blood ritual!
