It's buckin hot

I copied this in November 2013, where has that time gone eh. Note point six. 😆

Hackers - with apologies to earlier posters coach trips to Timanfaya or elsewhere are for faacking flaskers and PSIs.

You are far better off hiring a jam jar at the airport for about £100 for the week and you've then got maximum flexibility.

Avoid anywhere that the coaches go. They are all caants.

From Playa Blanca:

1. Papagayo - great beaches. A few German nudists on some of them but don't let the hairy arrises and bollox put you off - and that's just the women!

2. The ferry to Fuertaventura for the day is not too bad.

3. Drive up to Femes from Playa Blanca - great views and a couple of nice cafes.

4. Drive towards Uga and then on to La Geria (lots of vineyards in the volcanic soil) it's on the way to Timanfaya. Avoid the bodegas with the coaches outside - I've already told you they are all caants. Go past the bodegas with the coach parties and round the bend do a next right and up a dirt track to Chupadero Restaurant. Run by a German woman (Barbara Hendricks who is an artist). Very classy gaff with great views and great tapas lunches. Popular with the Nazis but don't speak to them.

4. Drive to Playa Quemada. Hippy sort of fishing village. Couple of nice restaurants right on the beach track. Sand is black volcanic there. But its very ethnic. Lots of goats and a few South American gippos in caravans but they are no problem.

5. Puerto Calero is nice for shopping. Sort of naval port which big faack you yachts owned by Russians in there. Classy shops.

6. Avoid Puerto Del Carmen like the plague. Its full of caants.

7. Tequise is a lovely little town. Used to be the capital. Very arty farty now. There's a Sunday morning market but again its full of coaches and caants.

8. Las Caletas and Famara on the West coast are terrific for surfing and hang gliding and great views.

9. El Golfo on the West coast is very dramatic with pools of bright green water. But again full of coaches and caants.

10. The salt flats at Salinas de Janubio are OK.

There are nice places up the north of the island but its a bit of a schlepp from Playa Blanca. Don't want to spend all holiday in the motor.

Agree with the poster who said Manrique's house at Haria is great but again its a bit far from where you are.

Haria is a lovely market town.

The Jameos Del Agua up past Arrietta is great - underground volcanic theatre with water but again its coaches and .... you've guessed it!

Finally Orzola up on the tip of the island up North is a lovely little fishing port but its a long way from where you are.

Hope this helps.
