John Elsom RIP

Was it the Taylor era when Gary Newbon interviewed him sitting in the Kop, and famously said "Relegated!? Nah we won't get relegated!!"

John Elsom 1939-2023

Leicester City Football Club has been saddened to hear that former Chairman John Elsom has sadly passed away, aged 84.

And I sent him at least a dozen letters complaining about Peter Taylor and never got a single acknowledgement.
And he never congratulated me for displaying the "Taylor Out" banner my daughter had made which we displayed at Arsenal and which made it onto the NOTW next day.
Even though he was sacked days later.
And he never apologised for the rip-off travel deals his firm, Page & Moy inflicted on us for our European trips to Madrid and Vienna. We were scammed by him.
Sorry but there it is.

Helped to appoint and tried his best to keep MON, mid-table finishes in the Premier League, two League Cups, UEFA Cup qualification and a new stadium...

Met him quite a few times during the gang of 4 stuff, him a Pierepoint came and sat with us at Palace one night game because he didn't want to sit with the other directors.

Sad news, RIP. May had his faults but think he was a decent man who did his best for the club during turbulent and changing times at board level, Was key in keeping O'Neill at the club for two more seasons for which I am thankful.
 
RIP, of course.
But it would be quite funny if he's instructed – for old times sake – that his funeral service is to be in Madrid, and sorted out the travel arrangements for everyone...

Sorry if you don't like it but John Elsom nearly drove us into oblivion.
And for that I can't forgive him.
Even if you don't like it - it has to be said.
Otherwise its a whitewash.
That coach trip deal to Madrid was disgusting. Every fan who went on it should have been fully reimbursed out of his private pocket.
