Madison turned down new contract.

The Leper of the board.
Getting sold in the summer, club won't stand in his way as they don't want another Tielemans scenario.

Allegedly.

Not a surprise. What will be interesting is if several clubs are wanting him and if that helps get a better price. He should be in big demand.

Supposedly Man City, Totteringham and the barcodes, but Man City are meant to have distanced themselves fro it recently.
Doesn't leave much of a selection for him and may limit the amount we get for him.

According to Ric Flair (he was in the Big Stron Leicester Boys Vid posted by Miami) the ground work for his transfer is being done by Man City.

Not as limiting as only having one year left. Chelsea got very very lucky when Hazard left, but normally it seems to about halve the value.....

The only way I'd pay any notice of what he says was if he heard it from his mate Jack Holmes who heard it from his old man Jon, tbh.

Where have you heard this from?
To be fair it wouldn't take much to guess that is a likely scenario. We've got a shit load of players that will need replacing at the end of the season who in terms of hard cash are going to bring in next to nothing (or precisely nothing for those at the end of their contracts) and who in terms of finance rules are going to free up wages (which will to a greater or lesser degree then be taken by their replacements) but will, a few players aside, reduce amortisation costs by only a limited amount. Even with a surplus left from the sale of Fofana after the recent buys I think the club are going to probably need a profitable sale. That realistically means selling either Maddison or a well valued player who was developed from within (i.e. Barnes) if we want to replace with any proven quality or with well regarded potentials.

If they have him on an extended contract & he stays (because he has a change of heart if he's currently set on leaving or nobody wants him at the price we want) then that is less money needed for a quality replacement, he is the centre of the team (still) & they can maybe scrimp & save on the others (risky). If he goes though then we are going to need as much as possible.

Ultimately these contract talks are, for Leicester, only about having some control & maximising profit if he goes. For Maddison its about gambling on it not preventing a move if he can increase his earnings & security. Currently Maddison holds all the cards.

Had you informed the three new signings of this before they rocked up?
No, but they were all making a step up to the premier league, as Maddison once did from Norwich. None of them seemed to be in great, wider demand. There used to be a feeling that we were clinging doggedly to the coat tails of the bcc’s. Sadly, that seems to have passed, and its now a case of hangingin there. Players like Maddison will want more than that.
