Mads Hermansen

He was saying some nice things about Wrexham...was hoping that was a blatant "come and get me" to the Hollywood owners...

Please come and get him!!

Sounds like he’s definitely incoming.
Cesare Casadei strongly rimourws to be joining and a.n.other before they fly out next week.

What this says to me is that Enzo is prepared to make clear decisions on the squad he has inherited, and then get the DoF to act on them.

Which is good news.

You definitely get the impression that Maresca is firmly calling the shots on transfers. He's told the club how he wants to play and they're doing everything they can to get the players he wants. We just need some creative midfielers/wingers now - it will be interesting to see whether the money is there for them if Barnes ends up staying...

This is commendable but it's also a consequence of the malaise that brought us into our current mess in the first place:

We do not have a good structure with football knowledge in place at the club. Rudkin made a mess of things and let us get too dependent on Rodgers and his cronies who clearly got out of control! As long as this is not being addressed on a more fundamental level, we're at risk to end up in the same mess again.

For now though, the signs are encouraging. We'll find out over the first ten, fifteen games how well or not things fall into place.

I respect what you and Bradnor say Clapham. But there is a but...
You could equally substitute "TCR" for "Maresca" and we are back where we were 12 months ago. Although actually even worse because we now have a massive squad with little or no hope of getting rid, benefitting the wage bill, without taking a huge loss on their transfer fees.
I thought Iversen was good when he got the chance, and it is even arguable that if we had ditched the clownshow that was Ward earlier we might have stayed up. We know Iversen can perform in the Championship, he was Preston's player of the year when we sent him there on loan
It's not my business, but without knowing what all these redundant players are going to do it is a huge leap of faith.
On the other hand F*r*st did not do too badly last year with a bloated squad.
Just saying, like.

Fair point Elmet.

I imagine Maresca wants a footballing keeper in the Ederson mould, and doesnt think any of the current lot can provide that. But I'm only guessing, and I have no idea if Hermandsen can fit that bill.

Meanwhile we are more likely to get worthwhile money for Iversen than for the Welsh clown

This is exactly it. Maresca's preferred style of play demands the goalkeeper can step up and effectively become a central defender when we're in possession. To do that, he needs to be very comfortable on the ball. Neither Iversen nor Ward fit the bill in that respect, but Hermandsen definitely does - he's known for being excellent with the ball at his feet as well as being a shot stopper.

At least one of Ward or Iversen will go, possibly both. I feel for Iversen as he's been patient and did ok when he came in last season, but he's not a ball-playing keeper so therefore is not likely to feature under Maresca.
