My god I have seen some shit awful driving this week.

Earlier in the week I was coming up the A6 returning from Kettering. Before reaching the Market Harborough area I was overtaken by a car with a youngish male driving. No big deal.
As we came to an island he was held up by a string of vehicles. After the island he made what seemed a pointless effort to overtake given the amount of vehicles in this convoy.
Frustrated by not being able to pass he gave it another go. A bend in the road was approaching, not a sharp bend but one where you still had no proper vision of what was coming the over way.
So off he goes, but his car is not powerful enough to blitz pass his ' victim'. Within seconds there is an oncoming vehicle and only by pure fortune did he squeeze through a fast diminishing gap.
I am certain both vehicles ( the overtaken and oncoming) had to brake to avoid a disaster. He was rightly blasted on the hooter.
Undeterred he carried on his merry way and I noticed his erratic overtaking continued further down the road. Absolute cemetery bait, my only concern is for the misery he may cause other families.

Yesterday I was returning home. I crossed the Brauny Lane and Hinckley Road junction. I went through the lights where the old British Shoe used to be. Anyone who knows where I am on about will know there are two lanes that quickly become one after the lights.
After the lights there is a bend before a straight section which passes where the old Airman's Rest used to be.
I was driving along when I noticed another driver shaping up to overtake me. I was well past the lights and the 2nd lane was practically finished.
He didn't sit in, he just had to get past me.
Absolute madness, there would be no time for him to react had a vehicle been coming the opposite way. Much to my annoyance he performed his stupidity, only for me to see a cop car approaching about 5 seconds away once we were around the bend. If there was any justice the driver would have learned a severe lesson for endangering other people's lives.

This morning I was driving up to the Holiday Inn and Vaughan Way. There were loads of traffic.
There was a complete tosser who cut right Infront of me with no indication and virtually no space to go into. Not satisfied he swapped back cutting someone else up. He continued to be completely erratic whilst getting nowhere fast due to the slow moving and volume of traffic.
Then he did it once to often. Someone blasted him which was no great surprise.
What did he do ? He slammed his brakes on hard nearly causing an accident. Immediately got out his vehicle and went marching straight over the person that blasted him. Now he was a big fucker who must have really intimidated the innocent driver. I didn't see what happened after that but I only hope that one day this arrogant bullying cunt either ends up dead or he picks on the wrong person.

My god we have some fucking appalling low life thick cunts that have no respect for anyone else on the road. There are plenty of them already in cemeteries but there are still plenty that never learn
 
Report in our local paper of woman with kids being involved in similar bullying incident where other driver stopped in front of her, marched over to her car, yanked the keys out and chucked them in the verge before driving off. Leaving her and family on the inside lane of a dual carriage way.
I’d hope it was the same arrogant bully but unfortunately, it won’t be as there are thousands of the fuckers who behave in the same despicable way.
 
Agreed Brauny it's totally unbelievable the complete disregard for their own safety, the safety of others I don't think even registers. I am on the motorway all week for work. Wankers darting in and out of lanes to get half a car length 'in front', zero use of indicators, tailgating artics, I mean they must literally be fucking suicidal. Cutting in at the last second because they are too important to join the line like everyone else. Try and leave a safe distance between you and the next vehicle for obvious reasons next second you've got some wank pot usually in an audi in there. Coming off at J21 from the North is like Death Race 2000 on steroids.

But I do agree driving standards are deteriorating, I think a lot of it is down to plain bad manners rather than bad driving
 
On a side note, I was told last week, that newly qualified artic drivers, don’t need to learn how to reverse.
What the fuck is that all about ???

How the test works​

Your test will last up to 30 minutes, and includes:

  • an ‘S’ shaped reverse into a bay
  • showing the uncoupling and recoupling procedure if you’re taking a test with a trailer

Reversing isnt really 'taught'. You are taught just enough to pass the test - it's a million miles away from 'real world'.

Just had the situation explained.
You don’t have to do reversing manoeuvres during the test.
Apparently you have to do a separate demonstration of reversing techniques in a completely different place from your official test.

I know - I've done the test. The test was and remains in two parts. The off-road bit where you do the reversing exercise and some other bits about vehicle checks, then the on-road bit.

The fundamental change to HGV is that you can now go straight to Class 1 (artic) without having to do Class 2 (rigid) first

I do that J21 bit regularly. You are absolutely right it's carnage. Drivers have more than half a mile to get into the correct lane, yet the amount that leave it until the last seconds and cut people up in doing so is astonishing.
 
I’m seriously thinking of getting a dash cam so I can send the evidence in to the authorities. It’s happening far too often.
I couldn’t care less if these people kill themselves but it’s the carnage they could cause that concerns me. Killing others who’ve done nothing wrong changes peoples lives forever.

Totally agree. Many a time these idiots don't even have anything much to show for their reckless gambling. Like in my OP, huge risks taken for very little benefit.

Some of them do that deliberately. The queue is usually shorter for the town direction, so they blast away from the lights to cut back across.
Basically queue jumping. If you were standing in a queue you probably wouldn't allow people to do it without saying something.
The car thing is just another form of disrespectful arrogance.
 
Amazingly the very next morning after posting on this thread (yesterday) there is a driving instructor no less driving along in the left lane for M1 Southbound, just after Fosse Park happily texting away! What was literally gobsmacking was the fact that he made no attempt whatsoever to hide it, phone up in front of his face - arrogant, stupid twat. Had I been an on or off duty copper he would now be looking for another job I presume. What can be so important to read/send to risk so much?

I am sure I have noticed that one also, but the incident I was referring to was not that vehicle.
Let's face it there are loads of arrogant tossers on our roads.
