My god I have seen some shit awful driving this week.

There seems to be an increasing number of people that want to drive at 10 mph below the speed limit for no apparent reason as well as the death wish nutters

Whilst driving too slow can be an hazard in itself, you don't have to drive at the speed limit.
As it says that's the limit.
30 in a 40 and possibly 40 in a 50 is a bit below a reasonable speed.
50 in a 60, or 60 in a 70 is reasonable imo.

Consequence of the speed cameras. Easy to creep over if you drive at the limit, so I think people now give themselves more margin. Very frustrating and a danger in itself if it leads to more overtaking. But hey ho those cameras are a great revenue generator and another tax on the populous.
 
That's true about creeping over the limit.
Engines are so quiet these days that you barely notice a small increase in mph.
I have sweated a few times when approaching a mobile van. That said some police forces operate a small tolerance level but I would never deliberately push the boundaries with that.
 
I've had the joy of driving on the M6 between Wolverhampton and Liverpool a few times recently. There's a lot of 4 Lane "smart" motorway with lots of drivers in la e 2 and 3 and the first la e completely empty. Having the extra lane is a waste of time. I do occasionally carry on down the inside Lane when they're in the 3rd lane and undertake, hoping they get the hint.

Completely understand your frustration but it is illegal and very tempting as well

What a pity all of the technology we have available isn't used to educate drivers as to the correct procedure on motorways

Not guilty m'lord, I keep pace....... legally.
Could be a work colleague of mine though, she drives a dark brown/beige coloured small car with a 20 reg plate. Usually surrounded by lorries when I overtake her šŸ˜
