The money that the Iranians were seeking was a debt from when Labour were in government (they were once but it was a long time ago)
International Sanctions stopped us from paying this 'debt'.
The thick bitch chose to ignore FCO advice and went to Iran, leaving her very young children behind because she knew better than to follow best advice. She knows it. She knows it deep down. She has carried this guilt for whole the time that she has been imprisoned in her home Country ( she is Iranian, that is where she was born). She was imprisoned by her countrymen -not theBritisgGovernm3nt.

On the upside the British taxpayer has coughed up the cash so she can come back to try and build a relationship with the children that she deserted. Hopefully we will never hear another fucking word from her again

Pen might not have expressed it too well but it is true to say she chose to go there and it wasn't the UK government that locked her up and made up spurious allegations about her motives. Based on news reports there was quite a lot going on to try to secure her release, do we actually know that monies were paid?
If this had happened in the UK it would have been called a kidnap for ransom and would have been condemned as unacceptable, I'm pretty sure we wouldn't be blaming people for not succumbing to such behaviour.
