Odds Are Plunging!

Fabrizio Romano - a more reliable source than most - reckons Man Utd want to continue with Solskjaer as long as possible and reassess the situation in the summer.

waiting to the summer would not be a surprise.

firstly their impending change of chief exec is probably a factor in this - who wants to be employed by someone that is about to leave...

secondly i'd bet we put some nice compensation clauses in BRs contract - especially as it was signed after arsenal wanted him - and man utd are more aware than most that we negotiate hard. they were burnt on maguire.

thirdly, there is this rule to consider about approaching another clubs manager during the season.

lastly, a lot will change by the summer in terms of manager availability. could be a completely different field of candidates by then.

The board may well want to stick with olly, then have a look come the summer.
A few more shocking results/ performances in the next month or so & there’s no way he can survive until May.

........thirdly, there is this rule to consider about approaching another clubs manager during the season.

The signed-up to Agreement between Clubs/League etc precludes one club approaching another's manager whilst under contract full stop; whether during the season or not.

But if the BR clause is true and they don't qualify for the CL next season. Busted Flush.

Yes but they do it through shady third parties.

We all know how it's done. See my post the other day about how some underhand methods are employed. I was merely pointing out that the rules govern length of contract, not length of season.

Perhaps adumass was confused re MO'N's departure, when he was poached - sorry, approached - by Celtic in the close season. That was due to there being a clause in his contract that if any club came in for him during a very narrow window, LCFC had to grant permission to talk. Celtic did just that. Wonder how they knew?

A story which is probably baseless and has no resemblance to actual happenings, involves some people in the directors/nobs/celebrity/corporate areas at Wembley after the 2000 League Cup win. These shady third parties - sorry I mean eminent visitors from Scotland - just happened to be Celtic fans enjoying a match down south, but mentioned that 'while we're talking, it would be marvellous to think that one day we could be playing our football with you at the helm. It couldn't be too difficult to imagine, could it?'

They very quickly found out that MO'N was not for being sounded out illegally, and were despatched back north. MO'N has principles. Oh, yes. I will not break my contract with my employer. Oh no.

'Course, when these shady characters - sorry again! these gentlemen returned, being pillars of the community they were invited to the Celtic boardroom guested by the Chairman of the football club. When they left, the Chairman found a note on his desk to the effect that MO'N was vulnerable to approach during say, 1st week in July. (No-one has any idea how that particular piece of information ended up there, but he would be a fool to ignore it wouldn't he?)

'Hello? Mr O'Neill?'..................................................

Rodgers was asked about the speculation linking him with Man Utd in today's press conference. Jason Bourne sums up his answer as follows:

"Brendan Rodgers says it's "disrespectful" to be talking about/to be asked about going to another job - because he's in a job and OGS is at Man Utd. Says the noise and speculation "is not real" and "is proud to be Leicester manager"

Mmmm....
