Our pen shout, second half…

I was there so didn’t have the benefit of a replay from every angle. Think it was Fatawu who went down in the box but the genius in black gave it a yard outside - can’t find it on any highlights. What really happened.
By the way, stone cold Sunderland pen not given in first half - said so live - twice as bad on replay😉

I thought it was a pen
Foul began outside the box but continued inside therefore a pen
How he didn't give theirs Buck knows

And Vestithing getting a yellow card as well. Genius.

That was the worst decision the ref made all night amongst many. Vestergaard clearly fouled but he booked both as there was a tiny bit of handbags. Typical bottle decision. Just say ‘now now boys stop that’ and move on. I could see someone getting a second yellow last night as he was boxing himself into a corner

I really believe the ref was trying to make ammends for there penalty shout!!! I do like the Vestithing actually works!!!!

I thought Fatawu was fouled twice - initial effort outside the area, gets away before being fouled again inside the area. Either way it looked a penalty.

For the Sunderland one, little appealing from their players I thought.

Fatawu's shirt was definitely grabbed by the defender outside of the area and continued well into it

Question I have, as it wasn't indicated on the stream that I was watching...did the defender get booked for it?

Pundits on Sky which I viewed on return home said no penalty as foul began outside area. Faes’s was nailed on but Refs view was blocked by other players. Why the Lino didn’t flag for it is a mystery. The officials were dire last night.

p.s. I wish the oppo fans, their garden gnome manager and the tv pundits would remember that a penalty is not a goal. It has to be scored and we know from experience it’s far from certain.

I was sat directly in line with it, and it was 100% a foul.
It did start outside the box and carried on into the box.
Based on the fact that on every occasion the ref tried to play on with the advantage, why did he pull that one back after seeing what happened ?

Taking it a stage further, as it seems like a small majority on here viewed it as being a penalty would there have been enough for a clear and obvious error reversal if VAR had been in operation?
