Reasons to be optimistic......

We have had a few toughies. 6pts from 4 over the last month is better than I expected. Could easily have been in the drop zone after those games.

14 games to go and we have 3 BCC still to play.
All other relegation candidates have more.

We play 5 of the bottom 6 + Palace and Villa . Wouldnā€™t be surprised by 21 points or 0 points . Anything less than 12 and we will be gone

Trouble is we have to hope that at least a fair few of those teams approach those games against the media 6 already defeated like we do

I' d expect at least half of them won't do that well.
It's reaching that point where teams are full on chasing the title and CL or Euro places.
That said we can't afford to fail in our games against our rivals. Psycologically the Southampton game is big. 2 or 3 quick results and we could soon pull away, but losing to the Saints and it would probably be down to about 1pt and 1 or 2 places between us and the drop.
Squeaky arse time

We also have to play Newcastle and given the two games so far thatā€™s unlikely to be a walk in the park.

That's true although I am sure there is a few of the others that will also have that fixture.

I am sure those odds of about 8-1 for relegation are partly a reflection of those fixtures I mentioned in the OP.
