Lingers Long On Cank Street
In the 1970s (and early 80s), chirpy Laandaners in the most popular TV series were often cast as Fulham supporters. Terry McCann, Wolfie Smith, even ‘Budgie’ Bird FFS. Whereas up in the Midlands we had diddly, in fact, not even David ‘Diddly’ (another faackin’ Fulham supporter).

Didn't Jacko out of Brush Strokes follow Fulham? I can remember his pal (played by David Janson) was another Fulham fan who moved to Leicester in the series. In that episode, Leicester City were mentioned

That lanky git off Pointless Richard Osman is a Fulham fan. Let’s do them just to piss him off!

Yeah, I seem to remember that they had a statue for him.
I'm pretty sure that David Janson name checked a few City players when he was leaving for a new life in Leicester, Shilton and Lineker were mentioned. When he returned for Jacko's wedding in the next series Jacko enquired about LCFC, Janson said, "They need a striker, badly!"

Didn’t he get that posh bird to wear a Chelsea shirt in bed? Can’t remember her name. Bit weird that.
Antonia de Sanchez. Ungoogled honest. Weird the things you remember… and those you don’t. Mellor had a great face for radio.

I had that Tommy Trinder in the back of my cab once. Cheeky chappy my arse!
