This rule they have about not being able to gift your ticket to someone else if you can't go.
Do you reckon it would stand a legal challenge
My thinking is if you have paid for it in full you then own it and it is yours to do with what you want
Perhaps there are different laws applicable to football I don't know the English legal system too well

No idea about the legal bit other than when you first purchase a ticket you generally have to accept the Terms & Conditions. If you accept these and it specifically says you cannot transfer the ticket then I'd imagine you'd be on pretty shaky ground. So check what you agreed to.

I think the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994 prohibits ticket resale to a third party, unless the football club issuing the ticket agrees to the sale. However if a reselling website is based abroad, then they are not subject to the Act.

The exchanging of tickets at football are frowned upon, because of the safety issues. But the clubs could set up a better ticket exchange system, if they put their minds to it.

Buzz is saying what I would have said.

Think there's also a term which says you are not allowed to faack off back to Ireland with someone else's season ticket that you have ponced.
I knew about the latter one but the Bear was ignorant of the facts m'lud
I'm just curious as it seems legally dodgy

Question o profit for the club. If you sell your tickets you get one nineteenth of your season ticket seat value. They then resell it at full price to another sucker. Simples

Exactly why the authorities don't like ticket touting, they want a piece of the action.

Dunno not being a season ticket holder what the options are if you cannot attend but I know some clubs like Leeds enable ticket forwarding if a season ticket holder cannot attend. As long as the recipient is a member and linked on the membership it is transferred without any additional profiteering by the club.
