That's a difficult one. They all deserve some credit.
Steve Howard for quickly ending our worst period in the dumps of L1,
Emile Heskey for great goals, being part of a trophy-winning team and last but not least reaching deep into his pockets in 2004,
and Robert Huth for being an immortal and the "Berlin Wall".
My head says Emile probably deserves it most but my heart tells me to vote for the "Berlin Wall" from Köpenick and Union Berlin!
He was born in East Berlin before the reunification, played for a tiny local club (VfB Fortuna Biesdorf) until he was about 14, then played for Union Berlin about five miles down the road for two years, then moved to Chelsea when he was 16.I never realised Huth was an Ossi and a product of the wonderful Union.
Remember watching international defenders like Jaap Stam and Marco Materazzi being hooked at half time because they couldn’t cope with Heskey’s pace and power. Made us a different proposition at the time.
