Micky Quinn would've beaten himAssuming that Jimmy Quinn is a shoo-in?
No problem Big Arthur Rowley
When he hit 'em with that lethal left they went like a bullet was'nt as hot with his right, I saw a player who got in the way of Arthur's left foot shot out cold for a while and did'nt play much part in the rest of the match ........passenger on the left wing.My dad saw Arthur break a goalkeepers wrist with shot and also saw him charged the goalie at the Filbert Street end and bundle him into the back of the net and the whole lot came down, the goal stood too.
Left for Shrewsbury just as I had finished my stint in her majesty's armed forces 1958 both my uncles rabid supporters refused to go down anymore when he was sold and there were many more like them.At the end of his first season in the top flight he was sold to Leicester City. There was much criticism from Leicester fans originally towards manager Norman Bullock on signing the relatively unproven Rowley as a replacement for the well-liked Jack Lee.
He holds the record for the most goals in the history of English league football, scoring 434 from 619 league games.
Fulham let him go...
Rodrigues was right back.I’m assuming you saw him play many times kendall. Incredible record. I loved Syd. Great left back as was Rodrigues. Bobby Roberts was a super player too and watched him play many times in my early days. But purely on his record it has to go to Rowley.
Why was he sold? He went on to score 150+ goals in 230 games at Shrewsbury. Unbelievable
Edited to add. All those games at Shrewsbury were as player/manager!!
I think Arthur's most productive years was when I was in the Army with Derek Hogg on the left wing did'nt get to many of those games unless I was on leaveHe didn't score many goals when Fulham returned to the top-flight. To our benefit.
Rowley has to be a club legend. When he passed away in 2002, there were obituaries in several leading newspapers. Those obituaries were talking mainly about his time with Leicester.
The only other person on the R list who was more famous would be Don Revie. But he is not famous for his time at our club and achieved far more as a manager, than as a player.
