The request for investment in the DFB has been cancelled. A real triumph for all the fans of German clubs who have been holding massive protests for a few weeks now against the proposal.


After massive fan protests, plans for investors to join the German Football League are off the table. The DFL announced that the process of concluding a marketing partnership will not be continued. The planned investor deal in the Bundesliga has fallen through.

This was decided unanimously by the Executive Board of the German Football League (DFL) at its extraordinary meeting in Frankfurt am Main. "A successful continuation of the process no longer seems possible in view of current developments," said Hans-Joachim Watzke, spokesman for the DFL Presidium - even if there is "a large majority in favor of the entrepreneurial necessity of the strategic partnership."
 
The Germans will stick at it in their quest for what is right for football & the fans.
The British will take any old shit & lap it up.
Where did it all go wrong?
 
The simple problem as I see it, is that the PL product is too big and that it’s sold literally all round the world. It’s worth £billions. La Liga and the Bundesliga just doesn’t have the same panache or power as the PL. That’s why it’s controlled totally, whether that be control by the clubs themselves but also the fans inside the grounds whereby they now all have pretty much zero atmosphere
