The Premier League

…..caught a bit of the mid afternoon radio and it was making me happy.
Saw the final scores and was thoroughly pissed off. It’s a fraud isn’t it?

I think that took the record from us for the latest time of turning a victory into a defeat ( when we were 2-1 up v Spuds & somehow managed to lose 3-2). That is the only bit of good news I can find from their win today.

l thought Brum had drawn until l noticed that they lost 2-0 both goals after 90 minutes, but that one was good for us.

I think Luton just might beat Derby’s record. Let’s see. It’s strange that all you needed last season was 35 points to survive. I think anyone will survive with 30 this season

the Newcastle penalty was a gift. VAR official shirked his responsibility as usual.

On a slight tangent, if we do go straight back up and do not invest massively then we'll be doing a Luton. Every team that remained in the Premier league have invested more than ever, apart from Wolves, Everton. The gap is now bigger then it ever was between the Prem and the EFL.

Hopefully we'll be promoted to the PL with a squad far better than any other club recently promoted.

Everyone hopes that, yes, but it's a huge ask for enzo's coaching to work the necessary magic on our various £5-8m signings in less than a year.
I know many will disagree, but I feel convinced that many players will get used to playing against div2 quality and get comfortable doing enough to get by – and subconsciously forget about what awaits them if we go up. I hope I'm wrong, but we'll need what Evingtonfox points out, plus a huge amount of luck, plus enzo to prove to be the real deal. We really did lose a lot thanks to TCR.

Don't forget Hackers, a lot of these players will have to go back to their own clubs at the end of the season. Also contracts will have expired for others.

I know that but still think we’ll be in a better position than most, some of the loans we may sign and some of those out of contract may decide to extend.

….l enzo to prove to be the real deal.
and if he does turn out to be the real deal he won’t hang around will he. And that is the problem a club of our size will always have - good managers get poached and our best players move on. Any long term planning must be impossible with this constant churn of assets. Which make our recent achievements all the more remarkable!

You would hope that that’s the time the club’s investment in the training facilities finally pay dividends and persuade our new found successful personnel to decide that they are in the right place

I'd reckon other PL clubs attractive to him would want a couple of seasons of evidence before poaching him. I guess we'll get an idea if and when Kompany gets Burnley winning a few games...
