No particular reason, it’s when I go up there regularly, I always seem to get pissed on it.Any particular reason for Erdinger in the Lake District?
If we are talking about 'ale' then local is definitely best, around Poole that means Hall and Woodhouse, Tanglefoot if you are in the mood, Badger for 'everyday' and Dorset Brewing Co Jurrasic can be excellent. Yesterdays lunch on the quay started with a couple of pints of Badger.Harveys Best Bitter brings back many happy memories of halcyon days sitting in a deckchair watching Sussex CCC.
Another vote for Old Peculier (note the spelling real ale twats) - last had in Whitelock's (excellent) Alehouse before the Leeds game this season.
Bateman's XXB and a good pint of Bass but they are as rare as hen's teeth hereabouts.
As Walt' says the Original in The Globe is a good pint (although sent it back on Thursday night).
Session beers locally: PG Sips in the Organ Grinder (quality boozer in Looger), Castle Rock Pale, Charnwood Brewery's Salvation and Rocky in the Blue Boar (preferably with one of their gargantuan cheese and onion cobs).
Partial to the occasional stronger tipple - another vote for Leffe and a bottle of Guiness Extra Stout(brewed in Nigeria 7.2%), ideally with a nice tawny port. A cold can of 'Trampagne' when I'm in the mood.
Draught Guinness but the vastly superior product when in Eire.
No thank you - Pedigree, the ubiquitous Doombar.
Do I drink much? Nah! I spill most of it!
Went Sunderland few years back in one of the boxes- brilliant view- anyway on the table for each person was a bottle of vaux breweries double maxim -which smashed Newcastle brown all over the place. I tried to get a crate to bring home but sadly was not to be.Guinness is your only man
In the UK I'd opt for Nèwky Brown
Drink many gallons Of Purbeck bitter on our numerous trips to Dorset. If we are talking about 'ale' then local is definitely best, around Poole that means Hall and Woodhouse, Tanglefoot if you are in the mood, Badger for 'everyday' and Dorset Brewing Co Jurrasic can be excellent. Ringwood Brewery produce Razorback and Old Thumper, not my favourites but some seem to really like it, plenty of choice really so I don't really have a favourite. The 'Charles', one of the music venues, gets through a lot of Doombar, for that reason alone it is usually quite drinkable.
A few microbreweries and speciality ale houses for something different.
No Palmers, AFC? Love the IPA and the 200, mainly consumed in the Ropemakers, Bridport when visiting. If we are talking about 'ale' then local is definitely best, around Poole that means Hall and Woodhouse, Tanglefoot if you are in the mood, Badger for 'everyday' and Dorset Brewing Co Jurrasic can be excellent. Not that common in the Poole/Bournemouth area, some to be had towards West Bay and Lyme Regis. No Palmers, AFC? Love the IPA and the 200, mainly consumed in the Ropemakers, Bridport when visiting.
