Cutting net migration .....

..... cutting the number of dependants foreign students can get visas for could led to increased fees for British students or a number of universities going bust.

Health workers will no longer be able to bring dependants, best not get ill or old.

If they get the lazy fuckers claiming incapacity benefit back to work there won’t be a problem.
All 2.4million of them!

You can earn more working at a supermarket than in the care system and it's easier work. If they can't bring any dependants there will be a shortage of care workers.

The care system is fucked. If you have anything to do with these care homes and how a lot of the old folk in them are treated by the “care” workers you might think it isn’t a bad idea allowing them in to care for our elderly.
A friend of mine is in and out lots of care homes each week, usually at night. They’re like you and BC in their thinking. Right woke fucker.
Talking the other day,
“I’m really worried, I think I’m turning racist. I go into these homes and I ask the carers questions about the people they’re caring for, all I get is “yes” or “no” some don’t even know the names of the folk they are looking after. The main ones are the Africans women, totally lazy and don’t care one bit about the people in the care homes.”

Sadly there has always been a lot of abuse in the care system, plenty of videos a few years back of British workers abusing those in their care.

Says someone who has never worked in a supermarket. White middle class leftist bollocks
I know people who have done both, once supermarkets put up their rates of pay there was a flood of people leaving health care.

Have you worked in a supermarket and the health care system? More white right wing bollocks from you?

I have worked in two supermarkets. I worked through Covid starting at 1am even though my contract was a 6am start.

You have not worked in either a supermarket or care

Rates went up because most supermarkets won't offer contracts above 16 hours per week and it's hard work. Nobody would give up up a full time contract in care for a part time contract in retail so save me from your made up anecdotes. Stick to playing trains on a Final Salary Pension scheme and generous sick pay.

I don't work on the trains, I don't have a final salary pension in my current job, had one of those for all of 7 years.

Best tell my friends who didn't want to work nights cleaning arses and took up jobs in supermarkets that they're just making it all up.

So you haven't worked in care but clearly know more than those who have.

Did 26 years in care - done the arse wiping - done the cleaning up the puddles of piss and all that went with it

And herein lies the problem, started about migration and then you have deviated from the basic and started squabbling about hospitals and supermarkets . Pathetic.
Abuse pending..

Ok then, stop foreign "students" totally and their dependants.
Stop foreign aid, distribute monies paid including benefits to dependants amoungst universities .

Governments have cut payments to Universities hence the introduction of fees. Those fees haven’t gone up in years, this has been due to the large fees that foreign students pay. Lose those and fees go up or universities close.
Not sure how anyone can think that’s a good thing.

Why do folk need to go to university to work at Tesco?

If fees go up then students will have to judge the value of the bullshit degree they are studying

If the University of South West Preston closes then who really cares.

Displaying more of your bitter envy. Public Sector, pensions, easy jobs, university, blah blah.

It's never too late, you can still go to uni and get a job in the public sector if you want to.

They don't do they Dickie, and you know that.

One of the reasons universities don't have enough money and students are drowning in debt is because every man and his dog can go now.
when i went it was something like 8% of the population went into undergraduate studies and 1% to masters or phd's.
Only specialist jobs required science degrees (which both mine are) meaning your degree had worth in the marketplace and got you a better paying job in the long run.
That amount was manageable for a centrally funded higher education system, and those graduates contributed more taxes (to help pay for the 'free' further education they got) due to better paying jobs.
Nowadays most jobs seem to require a degree for no reason, so a lot more people seem to think they need to get one. The govt hasn't improved things by sending more people to college, they've lowered the standards to let more people in, lowered the historical value of a degree, and put a millstone of debt around the necks of a generation of young people.
My parents were working class, they left school with no qualifications and drilled into me that getting an education was a way to get up the ladder financially so i would have a better life than them, and they were right, but i'm not so sure that's true for my kids generation.
If you weren't able to go to University because you're not cut out for academic life or could but chose not too that's fine too. there are many different ways of making money, none should be looked down on.

Universities won't be around in their current form within 5 years. Tuzz hits the nail on the head. Plenty of professional employers are investing in a big way on apprentiship schemes.

I know youngsters coming out of University with life changing (and index linked) debts. They have been conned and I feel very sorry for them.

Some of the apprenticeships available now are a good alternative to university.

They weren't conned, it's all known before committing to doing the courses. It is a lot of money but they don't pay it back until earnings reach a certain level, then it's taken from wages at source at an affordable rate.
