Sorry, I just can't watch women's football simple. Nothing to do with anti English!!! Even though I'm half GermanI’ve read this several times but I still don’t get your rationale for apparently supporting Spain in a World Cup final against England.
Nothing wrong with that! But I was replying to Lozfox1978, who seemed to imply he would be supporting Spain on Sunday because the English media has committed the monstrous sin of taking the tournament seriously and enjoying the England team’s success. I just found it a bit odd.Sorry, I just can't watch women's football simple. Nothing to do with anti English!!! Even though I'm half German
Who’s suggested this? The England women have represented the Country extremely well and good luck to them.
That said I am bemused that it's been mentioned that they should get the same pay in the WC as the men.
They done this with Grand Slam tennis tournaments.
They campaigned for parity with pay but the equality ended there. Men play best of 5 sets and women 3. So basically men have to work a lot harder to get the same money.
If you worked in an office where women got the same as you but went home at 2pm whilst you had to work till 5pm you wouldn't accept it.
Women's football is much improved, but in terms of appealing to the masses it's a million miles off the men's game.
It's not an uncommon position. In terms of international football in particular the Americans (and most notably as their spokesperson Meg Rapinoe) have long argued that they should have equal pay as the men but they are not alone. I'm sure you'll find it is discussed relatively regularly. I would be confident that I could find a similar position being taken by some across the game as a whole which, for reasons previously discussed, is just not realistic at this point in time.Who’s suggested this?
I think Oliver Cromwell is still living rent free in their heads too.It mean William of Orange is still pissing them off
You misunderstand my point entirely. I have no problem whatsoever with the media taking it seriously but only for what it is, ie the Womens World Cup. My grouse is with their attempts to elevate the competition to the same level as the men’s competition as they certainly did with the Euros where (particularly female) journalists crowed that the women had achieved what the men had failed to do, ie win the final.Nothing wrong with that! But I was replying to Lozfox1978, who seemed to imply he would be supporting Spain on Sunday because the English media has committed the monstrous sin of taking the tournament seriously and enjoying the England team’s success. Fair enough!Correct and also buckin right
This is basically what has happened for the last 150 years in reverse. The England women have represented the Country extremely well and good luck to them.

it's a delicate subject, but sometimes you have to put your hands on the scales a little more than some people want to balance things out.Unfortunately in sport, the revenue generated is very much based on the commercial side of things.
I don't know what the viewing figure was for the men's WC final, but whatever it was I'd be surprised if the women's is any more than 5% of the men's final.
Let's face it if England had been knocked out then I doubt even a million people would watch the final in this country.
I expect there will be well over 10M with England involved, but the worldwide audience won't be anything special imo.
Woke bollox.it's a delicate subject, but sometimes you have to put your hands on the scales a little more than some people want to balance things out.
To be fair to Fox over here, they've kept up excellent coverage on free to air tv even though USA got knocked out in the round of 16 and the games are often in the middle of the night (the final starts at 3am my time so i'll be watching it on dvr later than morning). Still plenty of interest.

Frankly I couldn’t care less who actually wins on Sunday and I certainly won’t be watching it. Roll on Saturday and the monumental challenge of Cardiff City.

Which is correct. I don't understand why people can't just enjoy it for what it is and get behind them. No need to be making comparisons.achieved what the men had failed to do, ie win the final.
