The US tax system is a mess, deliberately so in my view. Amazon (for example) posts profits in the billions yet actually receives millions in tax rebates. Entirely legal.

Whilst not really a tax issue what interests me is how so many in public service in the US, from Senators on down become so obscenely rich, it is not on their salary, that is for sure.
