Why Are They Booing The National Anthem At Anfield?

I don't understand!

From t’internet

‘They’ve been booing the national anthem since the 1980s, beginning as a protest against the establishment, particularly during then prime minister Margaret Thatcher's managed decline of the city, and now representing dissatisfaction with the condition of the country’

They also booed Prince William at the FA Cup last year too. It’s quite pathetic IMO. Fine if you don’t agree with a monarchy then just stay quiet. But these gobshites can’t stay quiet can they. They want the country to support them with stuff like Hillsborough which is quite right. But then they do this crap. Just stand there and stay quiet. It ain’t difficult.

Isn't complaining about the monarchy in the 21st century a little weird? Like it affects you. Welcome to the 13th century, complaining peasants convention.
All that saved cash could go towards broken slingshots for Ukrainians.

I was anti monarchy, that changed in the Blair era, I just imagined President Blair of the republic of the United Kingdom, nightmare. The Queen was respected and admired throughout the world, millions of tourist visit the UK because of the history of our country and its monarchy, the cost of running the royal household is offset by the billions spent by tourist. I just wish the succession would have passed to William and Kate, the British people would have loved that and it would have given the monarchy a massive boost in popularity, a lot of us don't warm to Charles. As for the republic of Scouseland, anti everything, gobshyte capital, let them self govern and rot.

I was very disappointed to hear the booing of The National Anthem from what purports to be a so called Big Club, make no mistake, football fans never forget this type of unpleasant behaviour. What comes around and all that.

Just out of interest what is the behaviour like at Goodison Park when the National Anthem is played?

I was about to ask the same question. I don’t recall booing at Goodison

Didnt Burnley rename the pub near the ground as the Royal Dyche so presumably the Evertonians (awful word which always makes me think of Carragher pronouncing it) give the same due reverence to the ginger king.

If he were to firstly keep them up and then preside over the massive shake up that club needs on and off the pitch I'm sure they would. In reality the deluded owners will probably bin him this summer regardless of league status.
