Why Are They Booing The National Anthem At Anfield?

I was very disappointed to hear the booing of The National Anthem from what purports to be a so called Big Club, make no mistake, football fans never forget this type of unpleasant behaviour. What comes around and all that.

Just out of interest what is the behaviour like at Goodison Park when the National Anthem is played?

Everton feel the same.

I was anti monarchy, that changed in the Blair era, I just imagined President Blair of the republic of the United Kingdom, nightmare. The Queen was respected and admired throughout the world, millions of tourist visit the UK because of the history of our country and its monarchy, the cost of running the royal household is offset by the billions spent by tourist. I just wish the succession would have passed to William and Kate, the British people would have loved that and it would have given the monarchy a massive boost in popularity, a lot of us don't warm to Charles. As for the republic of Scouseland, anti everything, gobshyte capital, let them self govern and rot.

It costs Ā£1.25p a year per person or 2.4p a week to keep the royal family.
In 2021 the income was Ā£1.77 Billion from tourism and other things.
That equates to Ā£30 a year per person based on a 60M population.
The argument that they are a waste of money is a non starter. Simply they bring more in than what they cost the taxpayer.
I am more aggrieved that I have to pay more than Ā£3 a week to help fund that hypocritical champagne socialist that hosts M.O.T.D

Out of interest, is the Ā£1.77bn directly attributable to the Royals? Thatā€™s the only way you can see what the actual return is.

Re the costs of the Royal Family, ex MP Norman Baker's book on this subject 'And What Do You Do?: What The Royal Family Donā€™t Want You To Know' is apparently an excellent read, here's an interesting passage from the intro:

The blanket exemption from the Freedom of Information Act hides the gluttonous excesses and the breathtaking tax breaks and the unique ability to seal wills hides the enormous wealth that has been accumulated. A forelock tugging political establishment turns a blind eye, and a compliant media, fearful of losing access to the royal photos and press passes, is careful not to go too far in its criticism. Is it that the public just do not know just how much the royals bend the rules to look after themselves? Or are we all playing along, complicitly indulging in some comforting fantasy of fairy princes and princesses, Disney castles and Downton Abbey that shuts out the hard reality of Britain's diminished place in the world in 2020?
Is it time to turn the tables on the British monarchy and ask them: 'And what do you do?'

I'd also love to know what that figure includes.
Would tourists still come to visit the castles etc even if no-one living in them? Is it the income from the crown estate (i.e. our money, paying them in e.g. rent due to historical land grabs).

Almost all other national anthems, including other Constitutional Monarchies, are about the land, or the people.
As bnet has already pointed out, patriotism and royalism arenā€™t necessarily the same thing. The anthems I like are about Leicester, and Liverpool supporters donā€™t appreciate those either..

That argument fails to account for all the wealth/land they've stolen from the peasants (and other peoples) over the last 1200 years.
The 'firm's wealth is estimated to be slightly more than the catholic church, at around 30 billion. They got that wealth by just being royals, not by doing anything useful since at least the time of Charles I when the crown raised taxes to pay for the military (amongst other things).
And the argument that the birth lottery makes you inherently better than somebody else is also ridiculous.
I get that in a post brexit world, where the UK is just a small player on the world stage, people want to cling to something they think makes the UK unique and in their eyes 'better'.
but as Tuckered said on FB yesterday "You're being asked to pledge your allegiance to somebody who wrote to Britain's most notorious paedophile asking for marriage guidance."
The French had the right idea, fuck the royals, up the republic. :)

Jordan Henderson getting hammered by the "Liverpool fans" on social media for singing the national anthem yesterday.

What is wrong with these people, why do they so hate being English? Will they boo the UK entry in the Eurovision song contest next week, they should be so grateful that it has been allocated to them, bringing in loads of jobs & millions of pounds to the city.

If they don't like being English then let them go & play in the Irish League, where most of their "fans" come from, & see how they'd fancy that.

They really are horrible people

Itā€™s a Royal anthem not a national anthem. When I go to watch England play cricket I am one of the first to stand and sing Jerusalem. Itā€™s nothing to do with not loving the country

So why boo?
Everyone is entitled to an opinion, why not simply stay silent, why spoil it for others. Itā€™s a nasty spiteful thing to do and is the action of loud mouth bullies

Well fair enough I stand silently during the anthem, always have, always will until it isnā€™t about royalty.
Trouble is, silence goes, er, unheard.

Because theyā€™re scousers- basically a load of 2nd generation paddy caants who pretend to hate the English and the monarchy and they want everyone to know it.

If they care that much why not get out on the streets during the Eurovision week, theyā€™ll get lots of publicity

I bet this blokes in hiding.

What will they do now "their anthem" was sung to the King and Queen last night?

If the National Anthem is played at Eurovision on Saturday it will be interesting to see the Micky's reaction.

When the Welsh National Anthem is played at the Wales Rugby games I can never hear too much booing, but maybe a very little for the National Anthem.
