Cricket

Looking forward to watching Foakes' glovework to the spinners.
All depends on the toss, whoever bats first will probably go very big again.

Looking forward to today's sport . Good fresh bowling attack for England . What a start for Oillie Stone . Let's hope for plenty of wickets followed by a good performance by the City , with a win against the scallies and a few winners on the racing on ITV4 +1 .

Woke just gone 5, laid in bed catching up on the BBC text commentary, been downstairs watching since 5.30 a great 2 wickets.

Looking at this pitch which I thought would be very different to the first as it has been baking during the first test, it could be a 3 day test match.

Given that pitch, I fear Sharma’s innings may already be the one to win India this test match.
You could be right. Obviously I hope not, batting last on that is going to be difficult. If we can keep them to around 300 we're going to to need a couple of big scores and try to get a lead. Can't see a draw here.

Just realis

Just realised that the test rolls more or less into the City match, enjoy, whatever happens.

The cricket will finish around 11.30 and the match kicks off an hour later.

It’s really hard going for us at the minute. If this was at Trent Bridge I’d definitely be in the pub. That wouldn’t be the first time v India they have a habit of batting well against us.

And if I was in Chennai I’d be in a beach bar I reckon. That beach looks lovely.

A 1st for me , watching cricket with an hangover .
Normally drinking towards one !!
Come on England get these wickets and bang some runs on the board to round the weekend off .

Groundsman done 'em proud here.. expect more of the same for the rest of the series. Do like Foakes though, I'd like to see him given a decent run in the side and play Butler as a batsman.

This wicket has been baking for the duration of the first test so was always going to behave differently to the first. That they dropped Bumrah said a lot.

It’ll be the same at Ahmedabad. The second test wicket will be more like a traditional Indian test wicket. I think the first one will be a bit more seam friendly.

Agree Daggers, it was never going to bat as true as the first, but the ball breaking the surface after the first half dozen overs on day one isn't too clever whatever part of the world you're playing in. Having said that, no excuses we're being totally outplayed, their spin dept much stronger than ours.

Agree.

As it turned out Sharma hit a lot more than our team combined. Pathetic really.

It's a 'fix'.

England embarrassed India in the first game by winning the toss and getting a score on the first two days when the pitch was at least playable. They were not going to let it happen again.

Turned from the first ball, conditions are totally in India's favour so it is never going to be a contest. Losing in India is no disgrace but on pitches like this it is a joke game, not test cricked.

Time to deal with it, scrap the toss and let the visiting team chose whether to bat or bowl, not perfect but will help.

Note: Applies to all countries, England producing a 'green top' at Trent Bridge or Headingly is just as bad.
